PHOTOREJUVENATION

To return your skin to its original young and fresh looking aspect through the use of lasers.

NON-INVASIVE LASER TECHNOLOGIES

  • These are harmless, painless and involve no side-effects.
  • They require no interruption to your normal life.
  • Skin rejuvenation cures usually involve six to ten sessions involving a number of different types of laser.
  • The NdYag treats the signs of ageing and damage caused by exposure to the sun and smoking such as fine lines, dilated pores, blemishes, rosacea and reddening. It stimulates the production of new collagen.
  • The results of a single session in isolation may sometimes seem minimal but the overall effect after a complete cure can be very impressive.

WHAT IS PHOTOREJUVENATION?

The principle of photorejuvenation is to improve the texture and shine of the skin through a series of light source exposure sessions, such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), certain types of laser or soft light such as LED. These machines do not enter into direct contact with the skin, and have a direct effect on the epidermis cells.

The sessions are short and entirely painless. Recovery is rapid leaving no traces. The effect is immediate, very natural but transitory. Sessions should be repeated to maintain the results.

This technique is ideal for persons whose skin has become thin with age presenting blemishes, visible blood vessels or dilated pores. The parts of the body where photorejuvenation treatment is most effective are the cleavage, back and hands. These techniques only affect the epidermis and can be combined with other techniques with a more profound effect.

A consultation with a doctor will be required. They will evaluate your requirements, medical background (as well as that of your family) and examine your skin to establish the most suitable protocol.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

Tell the doctor about the following during the first consultation:

  • any allergies
  • any unusual reactions to previous treatment
  • any current medical treatment

During the 2 weeks preceding a session:

  • apply sun cream (with a protective index of at least 40)
  • avoid any exposure to the sun or UV sessions.

Treatment should be postponed if you become pregnant.

DURING THE INTERVENTION

Each session lasts 15 to 40 minutes Allow for 4 to 6 sessions at around one month intervals.

The doctor will sometimes apply conducting gel to the area being treated. They will then place a light impulse emitting tool against the skin. Each impulse will cause a sensation of heat and sometimes prickling.

A protective cream is often applied at the end of the session.

You can return to your normal activities as soon as you leave the surgery.

A slight erythema may appear on the treated area after the session. This will fade in 1 to 2 hours. The doctor will prescribe a treatment to sooth the treated areas. Photorejuvenation requires no social isolation.

AFTER THE TREATMENT

To reduce the risk of oedema, sleep with your head slightly raised for the first two nights.

Apply sun-cream (protection index: 40 or more) to the treated area for a period of two weeks.

Skin-tone will improve significantly after 3 sessions.

The results achieved will be best maintained if the skin is hydrated daily and protected from exposure to the sun.

One of two annual maintenance sessions are advised to retain the effects achieved with the first treatment.
